The UGC NET (National Eligibility Test) exam is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on behalf of the University Grants Commission (UGC) to determine the eligibility of candidates for Assistant Professor and/or Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) in Indian universities and colleges.

The exam pattern of UGC NET NTA exam is as follows:

Mode of Examination: The exam is conducted in online mode (Computer Based Test- CBT).

Number of Papers: There are two papers - Paper I and Paper II.

Type of Questions: Both Paper I and II will consist of objective type, multiple-choice questions (MCQs)

Duration: Paper I is of 1 hour duration, and Paper II is of 2 hours duration without any gap [3 hours (180 minutes)]

Marking Scheme: Each question carries 2 marks, and there is no negative marking for incorrect answers.

Language: The UGC NET NTA exam is conducted in 10 languages, including English, Hindi, and other regional languages.

Syllabus: The syllabus for Paper I includes teaching and research aptitude, reasoning ability, general awareness, and communication. The syllabus for Paper II is based on the subject selected by the candidate.

Qualifying Marks: To qualify for the Assistant Professor, candidates must secure a minimum of 40% aggregate marks in both Paper I and Paper II. OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/SC/ST/PwD/Transgender candidates: 35% aggregate marks in both Paper I and Paper II.

For JRF, candidates must secure a minimum of 40% aggregate marks in both papers and a minimum of 50% marks in the subject in which they have applied.

Overall, the UGC NET NTA exam is a challenging test that requires a good understanding of the subjects and excellent time management skills.
